Women of Woodworking

While I take my time moseying back to posting, head over to Katie Thompson's blog to read her interview with me about wood burning and the Etsy shop.

Katie runs a series on her blog as well as an Instagram account named Women of Woodworking where she features women who have taken up the more masculine dominated world of woodworking. I've loved reading her interviews with other wood workers and was so excited when she reached out and asked to feature Of Thistle and Thyme. It's such an honor and I hardly felt like I qualify as a woodworker. But head over and check out my interview with Katie  to learn more about what first inspired me to start working with wood as well as what the process for making my wall hangings looks like.

No doubt, Katie runs an amazing series on her blog as well as an Instagram account named Women of Woodworking there she features women who have taken up the more masculine dominated world of woodworking.

  2. As a woman who is also a self-taught woodworker I am passionate about getting more women to try their hand at this rewarding craft. It's not easy; believe me I know, to break into a world that has, for so long, been dominated by men. Everything about woodworking says, "Big hands, thick arms, strong back needed." From the tools to the sheet goods, this business does everything it can to discourage women. Still, women persist. I know that I am far from the only one out there who enjoys creating and crafting in wood.

  3. Woodworking Plans and projects - dead as the horse and buggy? Are there any "do it yourself" people still around? The DIY, or "do it yourself" kind of guy is still out there hidden away in the confines of his wood shop.

  4. Woodworking tools to be used may vary depending on the project and the design that you will make. Necessary tool can be identified based on your area of interest in woodworking.
